Adoptable Mustang: Faith

We have a new foster rescue horse – another beautiful mustang with the longest, wavy mane and tail I’ve ever seen on a horse in person. Her name is Faith and she’s about 7yrs old and 14hh. Faith is a titled BLM mustang from the Kamma Mountains area in Nevada. She was captured from the wild as a part of the government’s herd management program (read more about this at WildHorseEducation >>) and was one of the fortunate ones to be adopted as a companion horse. Unfortunately, this also meant spending most of her life since then alone in a stall. She was turned over to Desert Angel Rescue because her owners could no longer keep her.

She’s been gentled (tamed) and loves being snuggled and brushed and loved on. She’s not really sure what to do with herself without another horse around, but she’s doing great with the goats so far, especially since she’s probably never seen one before! She’s in need of some socialization, but she’s very willing to do what you’re asking of her if she understands what you want. She’ll make a great pasture companion, or trail horse for someone who’s willing to finish her training. She halters and leads OK, but needs a confident, intermediate or better experienced owner.

UPDATE: 4.26.13 – Faith is such a great horse! She LOVES playing in the irrigation water, de-sensitizes to new things very quickly, picks up all of her feet really well, saddles without a problem, and didn’t mind having me sit on her. I cannot stress enough how much this horse LOVES attention, and always wants to be at your side.
