Pellets is available for adoption to an approved home. She is an incredibly sweet and gentle black and white paint mustang mare. She loves kids and is great with smaller animals like friendly goats, chickens, and dogs. We are looking for a home where she will have access to pasture or a large turnout area daily, along with another horse, pony, mini or donkey companion. More about Pellets:
- Breed: Mustang
- Age: Approx. 20yrs
- Size: Approx. 14 hands
- Pellets was vaccinated, vet checked, and had her teeth floated in
October 2012. - The vet recommended a rider of up to 200lbs.
- Excellent ground manners.
- Very easy keeper. No bad habits.
- Leads anywhere easily.
- Does great in a riding halter/bitless bridle.
- Saddles easily.
- Does great bareback.
- Barefoot.
- Appears to be gaited.
- Loves running and doing sliding stops when she’s out playing.
- Good with dogs, chickens, goats.
We don’t know much about her history, but believe she has been used as a pony horse or trail ride horse in the past. She does well giving “pony rides” with someone leading her, but she’s still learning how to move forward without a leader. She does know left/right and responds great to “whoa.” With a little work and an intermediate or better rider, she will be a great trail horse. Pellets is not appropriate for a beginner – she does NOT spook easily, but she is not completely bomb-proof and will jump if you scream or thrash your arms around near her, particularly around her face. We have not seen her spook at anything else. She’s very food-driven and will do anything for a carrot : )
Rescue History: Pellets was originally rescued by Desert Angel Rescue Ranch in July 2011. She was completely skin and bones, and was severely neglected. Pellets bounced back quickly and was adopted out, but returned to rescue due to personal circumstances. She came to Horseshoe Animal Rescue at that time as Desert Angel was over capacity. She was in great shape but still a little shy. We’ve spent several months working with her on socialization, lunging, and riding skills, and love her so much! She is full of personality, and is going to make a great trail buddy or gymkana horse. This sweet girl has been through a lot, and deserves the very best forever home where she will be loved and cared for.

3.1.13: Update – Pellets has been adopted! Her new owner has re-named her Bandida. She’s doing great in her new home.
Hi. I was just scanning.
I cant buy her. She’s beautiful, and she has that proud tail lift. 🙂
Thanks : ) I love watching her run. She’s so graceful.
She is beautiful, I wish I could afford another horse, but I have 2, and hay is really expensive. I hope she finds a great home with people who love her
Thanks Jamie.
